A stop worth discovering

Discover Bulevar del Río

The walk follows Avenida Colombia beside the Cali River in the city center. La Ermita church and Puente Ortiz are useful landmarks. The boulevard is a meeting point between the historic center, the riverbank and public spaces to the north.

Its seating areas and pedestrian layout let you discover the area beyond a single photograph. Look for views of the river, observe the surrounding buildings and take a break along the way. The promenade also hosts a variety of the city’s cultural activities.

Stories for the road

History

An avenue beneath your feet

The redesign of Avenida Colombia moved some traffic into a tunnel. Above it, a promenade links the riverbank with downtown landmarks such as La Ermita and Puente Ortiz.

What to look for

Two views from the bridge

From Puente Ortiz, look down at the water and then back toward the buildings. It’s a good place to see how closely the river and downtown sit together.

Visiting tip

Take a break by La Ermita

Use the church as a meeting point if you’re with a group. From there, you can take the promenade at your own pace and stop wherever something catches your eye.

Before you go

City events may temporarily change access and traffic in the area. Check local information if you plan to visit during a special event.
